You love creative writing. It’s a practice that heals and stabilizes you in an unstable world. Maybe you write poems because it’s therapeutic. Maybe you write in a journal because it gives you ownership of your own life. Maybe you rush home every night and write a few more paragraphs in the novel you’re working on because the rest of your day feels so uninspired. Whatever the reason, we write because we enjoy it. Why shouldn’t our students? Incorporating creative writing into your classroom will entertain and empower your students. Through a series of multi-genre, generative workshops, we will build our creative writing pedagogy by sharpening our skills as creative writers. With foci on fiction, poetry, drama, and non-fiction, this course is open to any and all, no matter where you are on your journey as both a teacher and a writer.
