Inprint is proud to serve as a host for the First Friday Poetry Reading Series. The First Friday Series is the oldest poetry series in Houston and has been held monthly on the first Friday of each month since 1975. The series is coordinated and curated by Robert Clark. Each reading begins with a featured poet, followed by an open mic. On February 1, 2019, First Friday presents Juliane Tran.

For more information on the First Friday Series click here or visit the group on Facebook here.

A Californian from Silicon Valley, Juliane moved to Houston in 2007. In 2015, a poetry-writing workshop at Inprint led by Bryan Owens rekindled an adolescent love of poetry. She was soon a Top 5 Finalist in the Weasel Press Poetry Chapbook Contest. Juliane is enrolled at the University of Houston, where she is studying the Spanish language and creative writing. A Juried Poet in the Houston Poetry Fest in both 2017 and 2018, she often attends First Friday and was a participant in Public Poetry’s program Poets and Musicians. Her work has appeared in such places as the 2017 and 2018 Houston Poetry Fest Anthologies, the Stanford Journal of Asian American Studies, an anthology Not My President– the Anthology of Dissent, and Royal City Arts Society Magazine (where she placed third). She won Second Place in Archway Gallery’s 2017 Ekphrastic Poetry Contest, as well as Second Place in Glass Mountain’s annual Poetry and Prose Competition in 2018, judged by Hayan Charara. At this reading, she will be selling and signing two chapbooks.
