Inprint invites you to spend an engaging afternoon with celebrated author Kevin ChenChen started his career as a cinema and theater actor. Now based in Germany, he has published several novels, essays, and short story collections. He is the winner of several literature awards in Taiwan. His first English publication, Ghost Town, translated by Darryl Sterk, was reviewed by the New York Times, NPR, Publishers Weekly, and others. Ghost Town was placed on the list of Best Books of World Literature 2022 by Library Journal and the longlist of PEN Translation Prize 2023. About the novel, a starred Booklist review says, “Kevin Chen has done a masterful job of managing his material, creating multidimensional characters, a beautifully realized setting, and an apposite surprise ending. Meanwhile, Chen and his family’s stories are uniformly interesting, and seamless in their portrayal of the characters’ intersecting lives… this resulting book is excellent.” Peter C. Baker in The New York Times Book Review adds, “Ghost Town is the literary equivalent of a suitcase jammed full to the point of bursting. Characters, memories, regrets, choices, consequences, secrets, history, politics, real estate, sex: They’re all pressed together close, like unwashed clothes after a long trip. Open the case up even a little bit and the dirty laundry starts spilling out…life gets messy, and Chen is an author who can handle it.”
