Update on Houston Poetry Fest 2020

We regret to inform you that the Steering Committee of the Houston Poetry Fest has decided, after careful consideration, to cancel this year’s virtual Houston Poetry Fest event, which was scheduled for October 9, 10, and 11, 2020.

The COVID-19 virus continues to grow exponentially, potentially peaking in the fall. In such challenging times, we feel it is best for the Steering Committee (consisting of all volunteers) to be able to focus their energies and their attention on their families, their health, and their other responsibilities.

It is our hope that conditions will improve by October 2021, so we can once more gather together in person at UHD to celebrate the art of poetry and those who create it.

We would like to apologize to the poets who have already submitted: We will be reaching out to you personally to refund your submission fees.

Those who are interested in volunteering to help next year with Houston Poetry Fest 2021 should contact Robert Clark, Event Chair at HPFest@AOL.com.

We look forward to seeing everyone in 2021. Until then, stay safe and take care.

Thank you,
Sincerely,
The Steering Committee of Houston Poetry Fest
