On April 18, 2016, the final reading of the 2015/2016 Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Series was scheduled to take place at the Cullen Theater, Wortham Center, featuring the extraordinary poets Tony Hoagland and Sharon Olds. Powerful storms and flooding across the city caused us to cancel the reading. Since Tony and Sharon had already flown into Houston for this occasion—one from New York and one from Santa Fe—we were able to arrange a reading and conversation with poet Martha Serpas in a private home during a break in the rain. This is not a typical Inprint reading, but a kind of “fireside chat.” Inprint thanks Sharon and Tony for their openness and generosity, and Martha for facilitating this memorable conversation.
