The Inprint BCM HEAL Book Club, a collaboration between Inprint and Baylor College of Medicine Humanities Expression & Arts Lab (HEAL), is designed for those involved in the healthcare community. Professional caregivers and students of all disciplines, including physicians, nurses, chaplains, pharmacists, therapists, patient care technicians, unit clerks, etc. are invited to participate. We hope to offer a collaborative, restorative experience where the discussion of carefully curated books inspires a wellspring of intellect and emotion. Multiple genres will be explored, including biography-in-collage, autobiography, fiction, and poetry.

The Inprint BCM HEAL Book Club takes place quarterly on a Tuesday evening in March, June, October, and December. Most meetings are virtual via Zoom from 6:30 – 7:30 pm CST. The December 2026 meeting will be in-person at Inprint House, 1520 West Main St., 77006, 6:30 – 8 pm. When you register via Eventbrite, a Zoom link will be emailed to you in your registration confirmation. You will use the same Zoom link for all virtual gatherings.

Each session will showcase a different literary genre:

    • March 31, 2026: Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder by Salman Rushdie (memoir)
    • June 30, 2026: Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? by Roz Chast (graphic memoir)
    • October 13, 2026: The People’s Hospital by Ricardo Nuila (non-fiction)
    • December 15, 2026: Grace Notes by Naomi Shihab Nye (poetry, in-person at Inprint House)

The Inprint BCM HEAL Book Club is moderated by Stacy Nigliazzo, a nurse, Inprint Brown Foundation fellow at the University of Houston Creative Writing Program, and the award-winning author of three poetry books. She teaches art and poetry to students and physicians at Baylor College of Medicine.
