This is an in-person workshop that takes place at Inprint House.
I am a firm believer in the fruition of honing one’s craft. Our literary heroes are not so because they were born with gifts inaccessible to the rest of us; they are literary beasts because they do the work of revision. Poet Donald Hall once said that the greatest pleasure in writing is rewriting. Now, I can’t always agree that revision is pleasurable, but it certainly is necessary, and to that end this weekend intensive workshop will focus on editing and revision techniques for creative writing in any genre (and make it fun!). Yep, you heard it. All genres welcome!
Workshop participants will come to class prepared with a piece of writing that they want to work on, and we will look to some of the greats for their revision techniques as well as engaging my own personal approaches. Whether you’ve got a dusty piece of old writing that needs some love or something new you are jazzed to work on, you will leave this weekend workshop with something different than you started with. Kill your darlings, darling!
