HOW TO THRIVE AS A WRITER AND EDITOR IN THE GIG ECONOMY

Projects you’re passionate about. The flexibility to make your own schedule. The freedom to work from wherever you want. The freelance, or gig economy is booming as more and more nine-to-fivers venture out on their own. Freelance writing is fulfilling, and when done right, it can be extremely lucrative. From journalism—writing for magazines or newspapers—to content marketing—crafting blogs, articles, web copy or brochures for corporations and non-profits, the opportunities are endless. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to set yourself up to take the freelance plunge. We’ll cover breaking into content marketing, finding your niche, writing the perfect pitch, setting up your business and more. Participants will be asked to submit ahead of time a draft of a pitch letter for a freelance news or features article, or a letter of interest to a potential corporate client for critique and review in class.
