This two-day Inprint Intensive Workshop meets on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 2 – 5 pm and Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 1 – 5 pm.

In this class we will use physical objects, letters, recordings, and/or photographs as the sparks to begin or enrich memoirs about a parent, a grandparent, a cousin, a child, a best friend, a spouse, or other person who has in some way been a part of our lives, and whose story we want to share. Our concentration will be on rendering the stories we want to tell into words, and on relying on solid details and rich imagery to give color and life to our pages. Students are encouraged to bring at least two, but no more than five physical objects (things a person owns), letters, recordings, or photographs to class for the first day.

Instructor: Miah Arnold

Miah Arnold is the author of the novel Sweet Land of Bigamy and of stories appearing in literary journals. Her essay, “You Owe Me,” appeared in Best American Essays 2012. She received a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Houston. She is working on her second novel.
