It’s Lit! Poetry Writing as A Source of Illumination

Come join us this summer as we gather to reintegrate ourselves in a generative creative process!

As educators, it is crucial for us to continue to cultivate our own creative writing practice as practitioners of the written word as an art form of illumination. This workshop offers a supportive space to build community through the process of writing exercises meant to charge our creativity through various poetic forms. Sessions will include generative writing exercises which will serve as the foundation for new poetic work. Our main objective is to generate work, and illuminate areas of our creative interests and passions. Time will be allotted for workshop and exchange.

JARI BRADLEY is a San Francisco native. They are the recipient of an Inprint C. Glenn Cambor Fellowship and a 2020-2021 Fellow of the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing. Their poems have been published in Callaloo, Virginia Quarterly Review, Academy of American of Poets (Poem-A Day), The Adroit Journal, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Offing, Blood Orange Review (as selected by Nikky Finney) and in the anthologies Queer Nature: A Poetry Anthology and Antiracism Inc: Why the Way We Talk About Racial Justice Matters. They are a teaching assistant and PhD candidate in Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Houston and poetry editor for Rootwork Journal. Jari started teaching writing workshops at the age of 19 as a youth poet in the San Francisco Bay Area.
