Course #Publishing/In-Person 2526-305
Saturday January 31 1:30 pm–5:30 pm & Sunday, February 1, 1:30 - 5:30 pm
Cost: $180 Instructor: Brooke Lewis

This is an in-person workshop that takes place at Inprint House.

How To Get Your Book Idea Off the Ground

Do you have an idea for a book but no idea where to begin? Maybe, you’re not a traditional writer. You don’t have an MFA. That was me! I didn’t have an MFA and traditional publishing connections but was able to publish my first novel and create my own book tour over summer 2025. How did I do it? During this two-day workshop, we will discuss how to turn your book idea into a published product, complete the writing process, and the different routes of publishing that you can take.

During the Saturday workshop, we will focus on your idea for a book, the writing process, and do some writing exercises together. I will also discuss my own book journey and share tips on how I navigated the writing process while working a full-time job. On Sunday, we will focus on navigating the publishing process. How do you find a literary agent? Do you need a literary agent? Should you go the self-publishing or traditional publishing route? Once your book is out in the world, how do you promote? Is it possible to create your own book tour without having a literary agent? I aim to answer all of these question and more! Our goal is that by the time you finish this workshop, you leave with the confidence to keep working on your book project, know more about the publishing industry, and can navigate the writing process successfully.
