SUMMARY:Hybrid Forms/Online 2526-102
DESCRIPTION:This is an online workshop that takes place via Zoom \n  \n \nOutlawed Bodies: Writing the Self \nWhat does it mean to live in a body that has been marked as excessive\, unruly\, or outlawed? In this six-week poetry and hybrid creative writing workshop\, we will explore writing that deals with the politics and poetics of bodies that transgress norms. Drawing from the works of Black\, Indigenous\, queer\, trans\, and disabled writers\, this course invites participants to write into the fractures\, fantasies\, and futures of bodies that resist classification and regulation. \nEach week\, we’ll pair generative writing prompts with discussion of texts that explore embodiment as a site of power\, creativity\, and refusal. We will examine how poets and writers experiment with genre and form to reflect the complexity of marginal existence. We’ll use creative experimentation—erasure\, fragmentation\, poetic and hybrid forms\, and multimedia writing—to explore what it means to write the body as both archive and revolt. Participants will have the opportunity to receive peer and instructor feedback on their works-in-progress and share insights. All are welcome! \n  \n
