Kristin Dykstra is the translator of numerous books, many from Cuba. Her latest projects include two 2019 editions from Ugly Duckling Presse, featuring Reina María Rodríguez and Amanda Berenguer. In 2018 she guest-edited “Out of Alamar,” a dossier about poet Juan Carlos Flores (1962-2016) for Chicago Review. Previously the University of Alabama Press published four of her book-length translations of contemporary Cuban poetry, featuring Rodríguez, Flores, Angel Escobar, and Marcelo Morales. Excerpts from The World as Presence, by Morales, won the inaugural Gulf Coast Prize in Literary Translation, and the book was longlisted for the National Translation Award.
