For details and a schedule of all the current workshop offerings\, click here.  \nPoetry\, for me\, has always been about becoming a vessel. You do not happen to poetry so much as it happens to you. That’s what makes it meaningful. That’s what makes it beautiful. It is a craft that takes complete personal involvement and cultivation. It is a gift to be able to walk amongst the world and to listen to it. It is even more of a gift to be able to take the world as you understand it and to translate those experiences from the interior to the exterior. Poetry is a rescuing force because it demands of the reader and of the writer to be completely aware of the world\, to think about what we feel\, hear\, see\, and touch. Further\, it demands an attention to our own voice\, to the language that we use and that moves us\, to express our worlds as we see them fit for expression. What sets poetry apart\, what makes it necessary\, is that it is a craft that demands the expression of content be as important\, if not more important than the content being expressed. In this workshop\, we’ll study the writing of poets ranging background\, century\, voice and content as well as develop our own practice of noticing. We’ll also work towards cultivating a sense of trust and vulnerability as we approach the work of our workshop contributors and each of our ever-developing voices. \n URL:https://inprinthouston.org/event/poetry-2023-202-in-person/ LOCATION:Inprint House\, 1520 W Main St\, Houston\, TX\, 77006\, United States CATEGORIES:Writers Workshops ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://inprinthouston.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/person-writing-with-books.jpg END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
