In this poetry workshop, students will be given weekly writing assignments that allow them to enhance their poetic technique while also expanding their rhetorical and imaginative scope. Class meetings will consist of discussions of the works of published poets, as well as of one’s fellow students. Other activities may include in-class writing exercises, visits to museums, or other practices that promote attentiveness and a spirit of curiosity. Please arrive with an open mind and a desire to learn.

About the instructor
CHRISTOPHER BREAN MURRAY received his MFA from the University of Michigan and is a PhD candidate at the UH Creative Writing Program, where he received an Inprint C. Glenn Cambor/Mary Gibbs and Jesse H. Jones Fellowship. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in jubilat, North American Review, Pleiades, Third Coast, Forklift, Ohio, and other journals. He is the online poetry editor of Gulf Coast.
