DESCRIPTION:In this eight-week creative writing workshop\, participants will explore the liberating\, playful\, and highly flexible form of the personal essay. Over the course of the workshop\, we will read examples of personal essays and discuss the elements of craft\, narrative\, and language that help to shape effective stories. In-class writing exercises will provide a starting point for our own writing and give participants the chance to experiment with different styles and forms. Most importantly\, participants will share their own work\, offering and receiving constructive feedback during workshop\, so that the course will culminate with the completion of a cohesive\, full-length personal essay through drafting and revision. \n
