This is an in-person workshop that takes place at Inprint House.
Expertise in writing and/or yoga is not needed to participate in this workshop. This workshop may include walking/standing postures.
Much like writing, yoga is an ongoing practice of creative investigation. In this intensive workshop, we will consider how yoga’s principles of mindfulness, intentionality, and openness can contribute to a more meditative, yet focused, writing practice. We will examine how movement is essential for a writer to become more aware of their inner life. We will read the work of various poets and prose writers who incorporate the philosophies of yoga into their writing. We will write in response to meditation-based prompts; your writing will be influenced by your selected “intention” for the workshop. Lastly, we will experiment with postures and breath work, and reflect on how these can aid in lessening the pressure and perceived seriousness of writing, and of life in general. BYOYM (bring your own yoga mat!).
