Join Inprint for an interactive writing activity that will flex your creative muscles in Stonewall 50. The Stonewall 50 exhibit at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston—showcasing photographs, paintings, films and videos, sculptures, performances, and other media—is full of powerful themes that provide rich content for contemplation and discussion. Writer Justin Jannise will guide attendees in this free hour-and-a-half workshop in response to the exhibition. Experience for yourself the rewards and pleasures of creative writing.

After the Inprint Writing Workout, CAMH has partnered with Rice University Professor Dr. Joseph Campana to curate an evening of poetry in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Selected poets and writers will read their own work and also share a poem from someone that relates to the exhibition Stonewall 50 and queer visibility. The poets for the reading include: Joseph Campana, Lyric Hunter, Justin Jannise, Paige Quiñones, and Roberto Tejada. For information about the reading and the featured poets click here.

Justin Jannise studied poetry at Yale and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and is currently a PhD student at the University of Houston. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Copper Nickel, New Ohio Review, Columbia Journal, Yale Review, The Awl, and Zócalo Public Square. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Gulf Coast and the recipient of an Inprint Marion Barthelme Prize.
