Jason Reynolds is a kids’ lit rock star, capturing the hearts of middle graders and young adults with novels and poetry.

He comes to Houston to celebrate the publication of Book #4 in his bestselling Track series, Lu. The Track series follows a different member of an elite track team in each of its novel and the challenges he or she faces. The first book in the series, Ghost, was a finalist for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. Patina and Sunny followed, each receiving rave reviews and becoming New York Times bestsellers.

Finding it hard to find books that reflected his life, Reynolds did not read his first book, cover to cover, until the age of 17. Committed to “not write boring books,” his books have become instant bestsellers and focus a variety of timely themes. His novel in verse Long Way Down was named a 2018 Newbery Honor book and a Printz Honor Book. His novel Miles Morales: Spider Man focuses on the Marvel Comics’ Afro-Puerto Rican teen character. As Brave As You won the 2016 Kirkus Prize, the 2017 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for Youth/Teen, the 2017 Schneider Family Book Award, and the 2017 Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book distinction. His young adult poetry book For Every One was released this year and is based on his performance at the Kennedy Center for the unveiling of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.

*Please note that the book signing will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon entering the theater, people wishing to have books signed will be given a number, and the book signing will take place in numerical order after the on-stage presentation.
