Inprint is proud to serve as the host for the First Fridays Reading Series. The First Fridays Reading Series is the oldest poetry series in Houston and was organized by Robert Clark from 1975-2019. Today, First Fridays events are curated and hosted by local community members.

The May featured reader will be Paul J. Boor, MD, who is a scientist, pathologist, and long-time professor at UTMB in Galveston. Aside from his many significant research publications, Paul is the author of three novels and an upcoming collection of poetry to be published by Lamar University Literary Press, of which Chuck Wemple, President of Metabilis Press, writes: “In What Palms Know, we slide along the journey of our human heart, anchored on a barrier island, emerging like rehydrated tree frogs, resting among the synchronous pulse of oyster reefs, harvested, abandoned, stalled at the weigh stations of roadway cafes and bars. We become a giant skeleton riding a unicycle in the fog of night. We sip coffee with our dead fathers and never forget that Thursday is garbage day. In What Palms Know, Paul Boor lures us in with invisible craft, slow burning wit, and the inquisitive eye of a pathologist. Time with this collection of poetry is time well spent.” Paul will be treating us to poems from this collection, What Palms Know, on May 1.
