Inprint is proud to serve as a host for the First Friday Poetry Reading Series. The First Friday Series is the oldest poetry series in Houston and has been held monthly on the first Friday of each month since 1975. The series is coordinated and curated by Robert Clark. Each reading begins with a featured poet, followed by an open mic. On July 12, 2019, First Friday celebrates its 44th Anniversary with Cindy Huyser.
Austin-based poet and photographer Cindy Huyser, reading from her chapbook, Burning Number Five: Power Plant Poems (Blue Horse Press, 2014), co-winner of the 2014 Blue Horse Press Chapbook contest. Layers (Plain View Press, 1994) is another of her books. Her poems Harvest and Letter to a Fugitive were nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and her poem Pendulum received a 2017 Best of the Net nomination. She has served as co-editor of the Texas Poetry Calendar for Dos Gatos Press from 2009 through 2014, and continues to edit it for its new publisher, Kallisto-Gaia Press. Her poems appear in Bearing the Mask: Southwestern Persona Poems (Dos Gatos Press, 2016), which was a finalist for the Will Roginpers Medallion Award.
