The First Friday Series is the oldest poetry series in Houston and has been held monthly on the first Friday of each month since 1975. The series is coordinated by Robert Clark\, not by Inprint. \nOn Friday August 7\, First Friday presents Mary and Chuck Wemple. \nChuck Wemple is a scientist and poet currently living and working in Houston Texas. Chuck’s interest in poetry began when he enrolled in a creative writing class at the University of Montana. An elective course at the end of his senior year\, an afterthought at the time\, the class has heavily influenced his life. Chuck has written poetry for over 23 years; served as co-editor of the poetry review Spiky Palm; met his wife Mary at a poetry reading; and is currently exploring the world of Executive Management. His work incorporates themes of mythology\, magical realism\, and the occasional circus bear. \nMary Wemple is the creator and coordinator of Words & Art\, a reading series of poetry and prose inspired by the art at Rice University Art Gallery. She also leads the critique and innovative performance group\, Poets in the Loop. Publications include Spikey Palm and Houston Poetry Fest Anthology 2005 and 2009. \nHosted by Robert Clark. Open mic follows the featured reader. For more information\, click here. \nPLEASE NOTE: The sidewalks on both sides of Mandell are currently torn up\, so it will be safer to park on Branard\, near the Menil Collection\, and walk through a path that has been made to Inprint’s back door. You can access this path between the houses at 1511 and 1515 Branard Street. You can then either enter Inprint’s front door\, or Robert Clark can open the sliding door to the back deck. We are sorry for the inconvenience! \n URL:https://inprinthouston.org/event/first-friday-poetry-reading-series-presents-mary-and-chuck-wemple/ LOCATION:Inprint House\, 1520 W Main St\, Houston\, TX\, 77006\, United States ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://inprinthouston.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/First-Friday-logo-for-new-website-Aug-2015.png END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
