Whether that world concerns a flat in Tokyo or a high school basketball game in Nebraska\, we have at our disposal a diverse and flexible set of tools for constructing each story’s universe—from point of view to setting and characters that challenge and delight us. The sheer variety of styles\, voices\, and tales categorized as “fiction” shows us just how infinite the possibilities for these worlds are. The focus of this course is the workshopping of our own stories\, yet we will also give our attention to those elements of craft that enable each author to create worlds of their choosing\, worlds that feel uniquely alive. Discussion\, generative writing exercises\, and readings will ensure that we come away seeing greater potential in our writing and storytelling than we had before. \n \n URL:https://inprinthouston.org/event/fiction-2016-201/ LOCATION:Writers in the Schools\, 1523 West Main\, Houston\, TX\, 77006\, United States CATEGORIES:Writers Workshops ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://inprinthouston.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/person-writing-with-books.jpg END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
