SUMMARY:An Evening of Storytelling: Race\, Resistance\, and Resilience
DESCRIPTION:This is a free online reading and will take place via Zoom. The Zoom login details to attend the reading will be emailed 48 hours in advance to those that register. \n  \n \nThis winter\, Inprint conducted two creative writing workshops for Harris Health employees\, BCM\, and UT medical staff on “Race\, Resistance\, and Resilience” led by writers\, UH Creative Writing Program PhD candidates\, and Inprint fellowship recipients Niki Herd and Cait Weiss Orcutt. Through a series of in class writing activities\, the workshops provided a safe space for reflective writing and sharing about the extraordinary times we are living through. \nJoin Inprint as participants from the workshops read and share pieces written during the 8 week period\, adding diverse voices and experiences to our understanding of these complex issues. The reading will include opening remarks by Inprint staff\, workshop instructors Niki Herd and Cait Weiss Orcutt\, and director of the Baylor Narrative Medicine Program Ricardo Nuila\, followed by brief readings from these workshop participants and more: \nMonica Alzate\nSamena Richards\nOrlando Garner\nUnomoa Akamagwuna\nPriyank Whitely\nKimberly Kay Lopez\nFabrizia Faustinella\nBailey Angeline Martin-Giacalone \nSponsored by Inprint\, this reading is made possible by a generous grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts. \n
