To enroll, you must have completed at least one Inprint multi-week workshop in Memoir or Personal Essay.

This is an advanced level, nuts-and-bolts class, a roll-your-sleeves-up-and-sweat class, so come, not for the catharsis some seek through memoir, but to further study the mechanics at the heart of successful writing. We’ll practice applying good fiction techniques to memoir and explore differences between the two, together building your memories into the stories you want to tell.

About the instructor

LEAH LAX has published in Salon, Crab Orchard, Longreads, HuffPost, and various others and her work for stage has been performed by both Houston Grand Opera and the Houston Symphony. Her memoir Uncovered is currently being translated into Arabic and will soon be an opera. Next up: Not From Here: our nation of immigrants, a memoir in many voices. Leah took her first “serious” writers workshop at Inprint and earned her MFA at the UH Creative Writing Program. She has led Inprint workshops since 2003.

By registering for an Inprint Writers Workshop you are agreeing to Inprint’s registration policies. Remember to sign up for the waiting list if the workshop you would like to take is full. To see the full Fall 2019 workshop schedule click here.
