Advanced Fiction Online 2021-103

Course #2021-103
Thursdays Starting January 28 6:30 pm–8:30 pm running 6 weeks
Cost: $240 Instructor: Brendan Stephens
This workshop is full

Please note that this is an online workshop conducted via Zoom. Participants will be provided information on how to join the online sessions.

This workshop is designed for those that have taken a previous creative workshop or have some experience with writing fiction.

In this advanced-level fiction workshop, geared towards writers that have a workshop experience already, we will delve into form and craft. Over the course of six weeks, this course aims to deepen a writer’s understanding of the elements of fiction such as dialogue, character, stakes, tension, and setting, while also incorporating a more mindful approach to subtext, perspective, and time in fiction. This advanced fiction course aims to refine the skills a writer already brings to the table. Our classroom discussions, writing exercises, and revision prompts will push participants into uncharted territory and unfamiliar forms. We will hit the ground running, which is why previous workshop experience is highly encouraged, though any writer that comes prepared willing to submit for the first week will find their footing quickly. Be prepared to pump vitamins, minerals, and even steroids into your fiction.
