On October 10, 2019, Inprint joined with the Menil Collection to host a memorial book launch for Paul Otremba’s third poetry collection Levee. Paul was an acclaimed poet, a beloved member of the Houston community, an Inprint Fellow and PhD graduate of the UH Creative Writing Program, and an assistant professor of creative writing at Rice University; he died on June 24, 2019, at the age of 40. This event, organized by Paul’s wife Holly Holmes, featured six accomplished poets from across the U.S., reading poems from Levee and paying tribute to Paul – Michael Collier, Sally Keith, Tomás Morín, Patrick Phillips, Hieu Minh Nguyen, and Kent Shaw. Thanks to Menil Director Rebecca Rabinow, Manager of Public Programs Lauren Pollock, and Program Coordinator Tony Martinez for their hospitality, producing the event, and creating and permitting us to share this video.
