This poetry workshop is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts, strategies, effects, and devices employed in poetry. The focus of this workshop will be on the rhetorical character of creative discourse, the importance of reading for critical understanding as well as craft (and pleasure, too!), and on the construction of clear, concrete, and imaginative poetry. Course projects will give students experience with reading, discussing, and creating poetry in a workshop setting.

This workshop is open to K-12 classroom teachers, through the generous support of the Kinder Foundation.
