Shaping Your Fiction

This workshop, open to first time as well as more experienced writers, will pay particular attention to crafting shapely stories. By mapping the underlying structure of your story – that skeleton that holds everything in place – we will find ourselves examining characters, the arc of the story, setting, dialogue and everything in-between. The goal is to become obsessive about story structure, to set the foundations upon which those narratives of your wildest imaginations can stand firm and unshakeable. Over these six weeks, we will dive into insightful craft lessons and model stories (and the occasional film). We will write new stories and revisit old ones. And it is alright if you haven’t written a story you are comfortable sharing. Here, your active and lively participation in the joy of exploring stories is what is most needed. By the end of our time together, we should be well down the path to crafting memorable and timeless stories.
