The best fiction appears seamless. In this workshop, we’ll open it up and see what’s inside, figure out how it works, why it works, where it falters and what could make it stronger. By taking a close look at structure, characterization, setting, language, detail, and tone in published and unpublished work, we’ll hone our critical eye and help writers of manuscripts take the next step in the revision process. Students should expect to submit stories to the workshop for respectful critique, think about writing from new perspectives, and speak freely about literature of all kinds.
